Meet the Organizer: Stephani Shepherd

Stephani started First Fridays Meetup in August of 2022, when she recognized that there was a need in the Woodbridge, Virginia community. A community specifically for female business owners in Woodbridge, did not already exist. As a military spouse and entrepreneur, new to the area, Stephani was looking to connect with other like-minded women. Stephani’s vision for these meetups is to give women in business an outlet and support system from the sometimes isolating life of entrepreneurship. First Fridays Meetups are open to all women currently in business or women who are thinking about starting a business. This is not a typical business networking event where you just come and swap business cards. Creating real connections and a network of support is the goal! 

Meetups happen on the First Friday of every month in Woodbridge, Virginia. The ladies get together to chat, connect, support, and share resources. Come out to the next meetup and find your people! 

Note: We typically take a break during the summer because of the kids being out of school and summer travel.

Check out these FAQs

• Can I bring a friend? Yes! Tell a friend to tell a friend! You do not have to live in Woodbridge or Lake Ridge either. Women from all surrounding areas are welcome.

• Do I need to RSVP? There is no RSVP required for the Regular First Fridays Meetup, but there is always an event created within the Facebook group where you can RSVP. However, RSVP may be required for special events.

• Can I bring my kids? Yes, because no mama should have to miss out on a chance to connect just because she has kids.

• Can I come late? Yep and we won’t judge! Entrepreneurs have unique schedules and we understand. Just FYI, Meetups typically end around 1pm.

• Will there be food? Yep! Food is life! Wherever we meet, you will have access to food and drinks for purchase.

• Can we change the regular meetup time to after work or weekends? Many solo-preneurs have flexible schedules and are often working alone during the workday. This is a chance to break up your daily routine and have some human interaction! There will be some special events that take place after work hours or on the weekends, but the First Fridays regular meetups will continue to be held during the workday.

• Do you also host co-working meetups? Yes, on an irregular basis we will host co-working sessions where we gather with the goal of being productive. 

• I am not even sure what business I want to start, but can I still come? You are absolutely welcome! Come and pick the brains of other entrepreneurs.

• How will I be notified of events? All events announcements are sent via email and posted in the Facebook group. Be sure to join the email list and/or join the private Facebook group.
