The Backstory to MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous & Staycation
My name is Stephani Shepherd, and since August of 2024, I have been on a radical self-care journey to take a monthly break from all the mom and wife duties that typically consume my days. I take a monthly trip and leave my family behind while I get the break I need and deserve. For the past year, I strategically filled my calendar with girls’ trips, work trips, speaking engagements, and trips to visit family. Every single month, I have packed my bags and left my family. I started a series on social media to share my journey. You can catch up on the MOMentarily Gone Series on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
After the first episode of my series, I had to give it a name, and that is how MOMentarily Gone was born! In the series, I share my journey of leaving my family once a month and encourage other moms to be intentional about taking their own break.
Now, with the MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous & Staycation, I am giving you and other moms a chance to get in on the action. Yes, we are gathering to leave our families behind, MOMentarily!
The very first MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous & Staycation took place in January 2026 with dinner at Sixty Vines Reston and an overnight at the beautiful Residence Inn by Marriott Reston.

How to Register to attend
To keep the MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous & Staycation intentional and well‑supported, the registration link is not publicly available.
All moms are invited to first join the Invite List.
Once you join the invite list below, you’ll receive:

- All updates regarding the finalized event schedule and details
This process allows me to communicate clearly with attendees and helps prevent spam or registrations made without a true intention to attend. It ensures every spot goes to a mom who genuinely wants to be there and is ready to say yes.

Room rate: $179.00 USD per night plus 15% tax
Tentative MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous & Staycation Schedule
Remember, the goal of this MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous & Staycation is for you to get the break you deserve. So, this staycation will not be filled with endless agenda items that tire you out or monopolize your time. The staycation will include 1 optional group dinner at a nearby restaurant. That will be our only official event on the agenda. You will have the freedom to customize the rest of your staycation. You can choose to have some solo self-care time or meet up with the other moms at your leisure.

- 6:15 pm — Meet in the lobby to leave for dinner (P.S. come in your best girls’ night outfit, because when is the last time you really felt like “THAT GIRL”?!)

This staycation is for any mom who needs a pause—and we all do! Whether you’re a new mom, seasoned mom, stepmom, bonus mom, or grandmother, you are welcome. If you’ve been feeling tired, stretched thin, or simply craving time to reconnect with yourself, this space was created with you in mind.
What is the exact date of the next MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous & Staycation?

Can you host a MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous & Staycation in my city?

Is there a cost to attend?
All attendees will be responsible for their own expenses. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Travel to and from the hotel
- Overnight accommodations at the host hotel ($179/night + 15% tax)
- Any incidentals at the host hotel
- Your Dinner
- Travel to and from dinner (if applicable)
- Any other individual costs you incur during your staycation (such as a late-night Grubhub order from Insomnia Cookies!)
What if I come alone and don’t know anyone?
You are not alone in that. Many moms will be attending solo, and this space is designed to feel welcoming and pressure-free.
Can I invite a friend?
Absolutely! I welcome you to tell another mom who needs a break, because we all do! If you have mom friends, bring them all along for the vibes!
Will I have to share a hotel room with someone else?
You will have the option to book the room type of your choice. Should you choose to arrange a roommate, you can do so at your discretion.
Will there be a schedule of events during the MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous?
This experience is intentionally unstructured. The goal is rest, freedom, and ease—not schedules or expectations. The schedule of events will always be light and optional.
Is alcohol required or expected at dinner?
Not at all. You are free to order whatever makes you comfortable, including
non-alcoholic options.
Will there be childcare provided?
No childcare will be provided. This staycation is designed as an intentional time
away. If you are unable to be away from your children over these dates, I welcome you to attend the next staycation!
What if this is my first time away from my kids?
That is more than okay. Many moms attending may be taking their first intentional break, too. This space is meant to feel safe, supportive, and judgment-free. You are allowed to rest. You will have plenty of time to check in with your family, if you wish.
What if I feel nervous or guilty about being away from my kids?
That’s normal, and you’re not alone. This staycation exists because moms deserve rest without having to earn it or explain it.
What is the Attire for the MOMentarily Gone Rendezvous & Staycation?
Feel free to pack and wear whatever makes you comfortable. For dinner, the suggested attire will be your favorite girls’ night look. This is simply to give us a chance to feel fabulous, which may not be often for some moms. We will even take a few pics to capture the moment. However, you are still free to wear whatever you like. The restaurant will chosen will have a semi-upscale feel. So if getting dressed up is your wish, you will be in good company!
How will updates and details be shared?
All moms on the official invite list will receive event updates via email leading up to the staycation.

The January MOMentarily Gone experience was something special. Despite the winter chill, the atmosphere was full of warmth and connection. Four women, each with her own journey, found common ground in the gift of uninterrupted time — no kids, no partners, just presence.
We shared stories, affirmed one another, enjoyed great food and drinks, and embraced the joy of getting dressed up simply because we deserved to.

I can’t even put into words how much I needed the MOMentarily Gone Staycation. I wasn’t looking for it, but it found me exactly when I needed a reset. One day might not sound like a lot, but "necessary" is the only word that fits.
