Before we talk about positive affirmations for women in business, let’s first break down what you should know about affirmations.
What are affirmations?
Affirmations are statements you repeat often to empower and motivate you in a positive way. Some very common affirmations are:
- I am strong.
2. I am beautiful.
3. I am successful.
Essentially affirmations are sentences that proclaim something positive about yourself or something related to you. Affirmations are the perfect way to transform your mindset and start to see yourself in a more positive light and overcome self-doubt. You can create positive affirmations about any part of yourself or your life, such as your career goals, family, health, etc. There is no area of your life that wouldn’t benefit from affirmations.
What are the benefits of saying affirmations?
The root word of affirmation is “affirm” which simply means to state something as fact. Saying affirmations help you begin to believe what you are saying is true. When you say affirmations, you create a mind shift. Whatever you once thought, if it doesn’t line up with the affirmations, your brain will no longer recognize it as true.
Eventually, you will see a shift in your actual life as well. Things will naturally start happening that line up with your affirmations and that is what we all want!
Whether you start saying affirmations as a proactive or reactive method, you will see positive results if you stay consistent.
How often should I say affirmations?
Affirmations should be repeated daily. You can speak them aloud, write them daily, or even listening to them from a recording. I used to have mine written on my bathroom mirror and would say them while getting ready in the morning. The number of times per day may vary per person.
If you agree with the thought “you are what you think”, then you can definitely understand why saying affirmations regularly would have a positive impact on your life. Some individuals choose to say affirmation once a day, while some say their affirmations several times throughout the day.
If you are just starting out, you can aim for saying affirmations once when you wake up. Eventually, you can set a goal for saying them more throughout the day. The important part is to make sure you remain consistent to see the best results.
What affirmations should I use?
If you are asking yourself “what affirmations should I be saying?” it all depends on your personal needs. You can acknowledge the negative thoughts you say to yourself and figure out how to turn them into a positive statement.
For example, I used to always tell myself that is it so hard for me to lose weight. I recently flipped that into a positive affirmation: It is not a struggle for me to meet my fitness goals. See the difference? Ever since I started saying the positive version, I have seen much better results with my fitness goals.
Another way to come up with affirmations is to consider what you want in life or for yourself. Turn those desires into affirmation statements. For a better attitude, then you could use “I choose to have a positive attitude every day”. If you want to be a better wife, then you could use “I committed to loving my husband well”.
I should note that affirmations do not have to begin with an I statement. Just make sure the statement applies to you in some way.
