Growing up, I never wanted to have kids, but now that I have spent the past almost 10 years exploring with my two littles, I wouldn't trade it for the world!

I love being their mom and feel so blessed that I get to pour into them and watch them bloom. God knew what I needed!

Ok.. said that way, it sounds super harsh.

I should have just said that my radical self care is traveling once a month!

Truth is, the unavoidable part of that radical self care is that sometimes my family does get left behind. And you know what, when I return, they are all still thriving and well🤯

Moms, believe it or not, your family needs you, but if you're gone for a day or 2 or 5 or 7, they will be ok! So many of us think the whole house will fall apart if we dare leave for a moment. Quiet as it's kept, you've likely trained your family to think this😬😬 But sis! It's time to start training them that every little thing is gonna be alright, even if you're gone for just a bit.

If you value time away, whether it is solo, for work, with friends or baecation...prioritize getting that time in! This means you're going to have to call on your village to help you.

For me (when hubby isn’t traveling with me), it means a supportive husband and a nanny who we pay to care for kids before and after school. Your village may look different, but all that matters is you be intentional about finding your village to support your need for investing in yourself; however, you define that.

And before yall come at my neck, yes, I understand how this is a privilege, and not every mom is in a position to get away. When my hubby was gone for a year, it was much harder for me to get away. However, don't put so much weight on the "getting away." My real goal is to be a champion for moms embracing who they are outside of motherhood. I want moms to feel empowered to do the things they love, guilt-free.

For me, it just happens to be traveling. For other moms, it may be coffee dates, reading at the beach, trips to TJ Maxx alone, biking around the neighborhood, going to the movies, and you get the point. Find your "thing" and do it!

Whew! This one hit me today while reading Jeremiah

Whew! This one hit me today while reading Jeremiah 32. Long story short: Jeremiah is confused because God told him to do something that didn't seem to fit with what God had already been telling him.

God responds to Jeremiah and basically says (summary): I can bring calamity and good.

In this chapter, God spells out His plan to Jeremiah and confirms that He knows exactly what He's doing. He reassures Jeremiah that what He asked Him to do is all part of the greater plan; He's working through it all!

So the message to you, even when the math ain't mathing, trust that God knows exactly what He's doing He is still at work! Don't doubt. Keep believing. Stay obedient so you can witness the full plan unfold!

Happiness is eating a donut and not caring that your hubbys arm is all up in your video!

Small things make me happy, especially if it's in the form of a donut. What's your "small thing"? You know, the non-toxic thing that immediately makes you smile or do a little shimmy.

Find your small thing and make it a habit to indulge, guilt-free, as needed. This is self care.

Mom are literal geniuses! This is why it's good to complain to other moms! They have all the best advice, girl!

If you're like me and your kids have an early bedtime, aftershchool activities that run late, have you like 😬😬

But listen, I have the solution! My other moms friend suggested to feed them dinner as soon as they get off the bus! They are always starving, and why not feed them a good healthy meal! Then, on the way home from the activity, they can have a snack in the car. Once home, get them jokers ready for bed STAT!

Cooking this meal was definitely part of today's work day because taking care of your family is also work, mamas!

Because sometimes traveling while self employed me

Because sometimes traveling while self employed means finding pockets of time to work, especially when it's just you and no assistant, yet. (heavy on the YET🙌🏾)

Thankfully, I can do most things from my phone, even if it means my client will hear all the people and toilets in the background of the rest stop bathroom, because my child just couldn't hold it anymore 🤣

While I appreciate being able to work from anywhere, the reality is sometimes the work and the play really have to co-exist, even at times I'd rather just play- and that's the part everyone doesn't always show you.

Congratulations on answering the call to find yourself!

If you're not quite sure where to start, here are 4 things you MUST do as you start your journey to exploring who you are outside of motherhood:

1. Kick guilt out EARLY. Start your journey by giving yourself full permission to go on this journey. Don't you, for one second, let guilt make you halt your journey!

2. Take inventory. What's something you used to love that you still think about? What dreams have you given up on that you still think about? What healthy activities and aspects of you do you miss most about your life before kids?

3. Find community. This may seem challenging, but don't let that stop you. You're going to need support along this journey to self-discovery. Be intentional about connecting with other moms you admire who are already thriving. You can also connect with other moms who are just getting started on their journey.

4. Inform your family. Notice, I didn't say ask for permission. Let your hubby and kids know about the void you've been feeling and how you're ready to do something about it. Let them know how they can support you in your journey and what to expect. I pray your family can support you, even if it requires you to start out a little slower than expected.

Finding who you are outside of being a mom is what will make you any even better mom! Trust me!
